Makeover

While Liv was away at Girls camp this last week we decided to makeover her room. We wanted to do it last year but my Grandpa passed away the day she left and it just didn't work out. She desperately needed a makeover. She will be 15 in January and her room was the old waiting room/ family room for the Dance studio and nothing had been done to it at all. It truly was frightening. Plus she just deserved it. When Carlos and the kids moved in with me I realized that even at the age of two she really had nothing. Only a few outfits and one little blanket. Her biological Mom took everything just to spite my husband but instead her little girl had to suffer. She has always treasured everything. We tease her that she is a little hoarder as you can tell in the before pictures but I realize that is because she never really had many things of her own the first few years of her life. Don't worry I didn't trash everything. A lot of the stuff is put away neatly in some new storage bins under her bed. She has also really struggled with feeling loved lately. Once again I think old feelings from her real Mom have crept up and because of that she has been picking some pretty crappy friends. We wanted to show her just how much we love her and that she can always find unconditional love at home with us.

A lot of love and time went into her new room. My husband and kids, my Mom and my sister in law all helped me and I love and appreciate them for that. We did run into a few snags she ended up leaving a day late to camp because of rain so that gave us a late start and she came home a day early so I sent her to my brothers and sister in laws for one more night so we could finish up. Another good thing is that I was able to re purpose so many things without spending too much. Yay Me!

And so it begins...Victor and Carlos hard at work painting.

This is a before picture of a seat that was my Great Grandmas. You can tell it needed major help. It was in my room when I was younger. Don't you love the yellow? I'm actually not sure if you can call that color yellow.

Ta Da!

Valance my Mom made. Good thing she can sew. Unlike me.

Picture of her playing soccer.

I bought this new plaque for her to help remind her of how special she is. I want her to remember that she is a royal daughter of God.

First glimpse of her room. SURPRISE!
