Husband Tag

Where did you meet? At work. He was married at the time and I was engaged to someone else. We stayed friends for about a year before both of our relationships desovled and started dating. Neither of us knew that the other one was single until mutual friends set us up. It was a little weird because we has all ready been friends prior.

How long did we date? 6mo.

How did he propose? We were visiting my sister up north and he asked me to bring in his wallet from under the drivers seat and my ring was sitting there. He came outside and asked me to marry him.

How long have you been married? 9 years (10 in April)

What does he do that surprises you? He is always holding my hand and hugging and kissing me in public. Even after all these years.

What is your favorite feature of his? His smile (perfectly straight teeth with no braces, lucky!)

Does he have a nickname for you? Babe, Hunny, and sometimes Marie.

What is your favorite quality of his? His ambition. He never gives up. Also, his sense of humor he always has me laughing even when I don't want to. He always say's he's sorry first. He doesn't like to hurt my feelings.

What is his favorite color? Probably black and Gray.

What is his favorite food? Anything his Mommy makes. Shes makes the best Hispanic food.

What is his favorite sport? Currently, mixed martial arts, football, soccer or anything our kids are playing.

When was your first kiss? 4Th date (I know, I know I thought he hated me. I was used to guys kissing me on the first date)

What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Boy that's a loaded question. In an effort to not embarrass my family I will say cuddle and just go places together.
Do you have kids? Yes, four of them. We would have a ton more if we could. We love being parents.

How old is he? 33

Who said I love you first? He did.

What is his favorite type of music? He loves it all

What do you admire about him most? He is an incredible father. When we were dating he was raising 2 kids on his own and I knew then what a great dad he would be. He always tells our kids how much he loves me. He also works in a very dangerous career in an effort to show our children that even though they are a minority that they can make something for themselves and there community. He's wonderful and I love him to pieces!

It's a weight thing

So this post is not for my super skinny, eat whatever you want, deliver baby after baby and weigh only ten pounds more than you did before you delivered that baby friends. This post is more for me. I mentioned before how this blogging is more of a journal so excuse my rantings and ravings.

Lately I have really been struggling with my weight. Its no secret that this is something since giving birth to my kids that I have always struggled with.
While teaching dance last week I had a cute little girl say, "look at Kari, she's having a baby." I kindly told her no I wasn't, I was just fat. (this also happened last year at dance.) I have been blessed with the 3 - 4 mo. pregnancy tummy since I can remember. I can do crunches until my back, neck and stomach fall apart and will probably always look that way. I have also decided that I can run until I'm blue in the face and laying on the ground and still probably look the same. I can teach 7- 8 dance classes a week and still look the same. I have never complained about my "weight issues" around my kids. I always want them to know that they are wonderful no matter what. And that there weight doesn't determine who they are.

I have to admit, I'm really not a calorie counter and find that when I really watch my food intake I become more depressed and eat crappy. This is a struggle myself and my sisters have always had. We just were not blessed with the "skinny genes."

So I dedicate this post to all my fellow "work your behind off until you can't stand it anymore bloggers." We will survive! I will continue to run, dance and do my hip hop abs until I can't stand it anymore. I will also embrace the fact that I will not be the smallest one running the next 5k and will probably always be the dance teacher that looks pregnant when not. I will also keep trying to convince myself that curves are sexy! I also promise to not starve myself ( yeah right as if I could, I love food!) I also promise to never ask my husband or friends "Do I look fat in this?" And then just then maybe I'll really learn to love me just how I am!

I love Pupmkins!

Today we had a really good day. Carlos and I took the kids to St. George and then when we got home we carved our pumpkins (courtesy of Val's Pumpkin patch. Thanks again!) It just made me remember how much I love the smell of pumpkins. It couldn't have been a more beautiful evening. Believe it or not there was no wind. Not even a breeze. I know, shocking for our town.

We finished the night off with some pumpkin pie and ice cream. I was so happy to have my kids home with us. I'm one of those crazy moms who never wants school to start back up. I just love doing "mom" stuff with my kiddos.

My Gandparents

Yesterday we went over to visit my grandparents after church. This is something we do about every other Sunday. Olivia and I also clean my grandma's floors every other week. I just love helping them. I tell my kids all the time how lucky they are to have there great grandparents in there life. They have always loved me unconditionally even when I was unlovable. I feel so blessed to have them.

I always wished that my Dad's parents lived closer. My grandmother (Carmen) passed away exactly two weeks before Alesia (my youngest) was born. I really do miss her and wish she could see my kids now. I also wish they could have tasted her great southern cooking. I'm grateful that she had at least had 2 weeks to love on my little girl in heaven before she came to us.

It really is our family that makes us who we are. Better or worse. I know for sure that my grandparents have shaped me for the better.

My new favorite

Most of you know I love music. If it has a beat I love it. R and B, Country, Salsa , Hip Hop, everything. What most people may not know about me is that I love gospel music. One of my favorites is Hillary Weeks. When I went to the BYU Women's Conference this year she sang some of her songs from her new CD (I cried through all of them.) I have been waiting since May for her CD to come out. I bought it 2 weeks ago and I love it. The first song is one that she sang at the conference. It is called "If I only had today." It really puts the important things in life in perspective. The third song is "Just let me cry. " It was written for a family who lost there daughter to cancer. After downloading the CD to my ipod I gave it to a friend of mine who's husband has cancer. I hope it touches her heart like it did mine. If I can I will try to add it to my playlist.
If you have the chance to get this cd you should. You will cry and also feel the spirit

Conference

Yesterday was general conference. I felt like there were a lot of good messages. It was so good to hear from our prophet. I was able to hear him speak in May. Before he came in they had security checking his seat and those around. As he came in we all stood and sang "We thank thee oh God for a prophet." The spirit was so strong I could hardly hold the tears in.
I remember watching him as a young girl and thinking what a great man he was. I was always anxiously awaiting him being the prophet.
As far as conference went I feel like my spirit was lifted and my testimony was strengthened. I'm so thankful for those that lead our church.

Early morning surprise

I woke up this morning to find a 1 gallon can of paint spilt all over my brand new tile floor. Apparently it was left on the washer and casper the friendly ghost ( because no ones talkin)decided to do a load of laundry. As the washer got going it knocked it off onto the floor.
Now this wouldn't be a big deal if we hadn't taken the last 3 weeks to lay tile. To make it worse our darling little puppy Cookie walked her cute little paws all the way through it leaving a trail through the studio, Kitchen, Victor's room (oh yes, carpet) Emilio's room (carpet again) , my room (carpet) and the girls bedroom (did I mention carpet.)
I realize this could happen to any home whether its new or old. I think I just hate my old home more because we are the ones doing the labor in order to try to like our home.
Oh well, today I cried about it. Tomorrow I'll laugh about it.

Robyne' s Birthday

Today is my sister Robyne's Birthday. She is 34. I want to tell her happy birthday and that I love her a whole bunch! The picture I have of her is from our trip to Texas. When we were in our teens both of us flew to Texas to see my Grandma Carmen and Aunt Deanna. It was an awesome trip. Robyne knew I was afraid to fly so she offered to sit by the window. On the way back to Utah she told me that since we didn't die on the way there that we had to die on the way home. She's so funny!!! Lets just say I kissed the dirty Vegas ground when we got back. I'm glad we got to go together Rob. It was a great memory that I have with you. Happy Birthday! Miss you lots!
