They Grow up to Fast

Victors Middle School Graduation Dance

Last week was so busy for us. We had track and field for both the Elementary and Middle School. Along with Choir concerts and School programs. All of the kids did great. Victors relay team for track and field broke the school record. He was really excited about that.
Olivia did great at her choir concert. I could tell she was so nervous. She kept wiping her little sweaty hands on her pants.
Emilio did great at track and field. I think he liked hanging out with his friends the most.
And Alesia did a good job at her first grade progam. She had practiced over and over for it at home.
Victor brought home a picture from his Graduation Dance. It made me feel so old. I realize I'm only 29 but I still can't believe I will have a High Schooler next year. They grow up so fast. I am always telling my kids to slow down and enjoy being a kid. Its probably more for me than them. I know they are eager to grow and become more independant I just want them to stay little and innocent. I'm so proud of each of them and who they are becoming. They make being a Mom so special.

One Of Those Days

Sheesh....Yesterday was a dooozy. The day started out with me going to Albertsons. I tried to use several coupons that I had and the cashier kept goofing up on them. Then she started sending items back and forth which in turn left me looking the the village Idiot in the check out stand. Yeah you know what I mean, when there is only one check stand open and 20 people behind you. I finally told her never mind after the 10Th "I hate you look" from the people waiting behind me.

When my kids got home from school I had to take Emilio over to Scouts. As I was pulling out of his scout leaders driveway I hit a trailer that was parked out in the road. This was not only my neighbors trailer but also my husbands Sargent's trailer. Luckily, no damage to the trailer. Unluckily, damage to my car. (what a great time to be unemployed right now.)

To top it all off later that night my husband found a snake under our house. I told him to get rid of it and he decided to keep it and let the kids pet it. I was on my way out the door to take Victor to his graduation dance and the snake bit Victor. There I am on the porch yelling at Carlos, him yelling at me and our son dripping blood with my daughter screaming her head off as the neighbors walk by. Yeah, we were pretty pathetic! I'm sure we will be the next rumor.

Carlos told me he wasn't sure what kind it was and that I needed to take Victor to the Instacare. We arrived there and were told we would have to go to the ER. I frantically decided to call his Dr. After talking to his Dr. I decided to let him go to the dance and not go to the ER. Yes I know, I won't be getting the mother of the year award any time soon.

I have always said our family doesn't just have one of those days we have one of those lives. If it can go wrong, it will. But we go through it and we move on and try our best to enjoy the adventure that is our crazy life.

Fun at the pool and Cinco De Mayo

Last week Alesia went swimming for a filed trip. She has become quite the social butterfly. She wanted me to take pictures of her and all of her friends.

Last week we had our annual Cinco De Mayo dinner. This is something we do every year. This year we had flautas, rice and beans, homemade chips and salsa, horchata and rice pudding. We also cracked open a pinata. We love to have our kids celebrate their heritage. We invited over family to celebrate with us. We were even able to sneak in some "Sing Star" on the play station.

My Angel Mother

I just want to tell my sweet Mama how much I love her. She has always been somebody I turn to for strength. Probably because that's what she represents to me. She is one of the strongest people I know.

I am still amazed at how she raised six of us kids day to day on her own. Trust me we were not always a walk in the park. And somehow she still loved us and still loves us unconditionally.Even through her trials she managed to continue to stay strong in the gospel. I'm sure as her faith was being tested it was hard for her but she has always relied on the Lord and has never shown anger over any of the cards she was dealt. She has taught me how to work hard and how to find joy in your circumstances even if they are not what you are hoping for. When my parents divorced she never said any bad things to us kids about my Dad even though she was hurting. I have always appreciated the integrity she showed me in that.

I am her baby and got to spend more time at home with her than the other kids. I know that I definitely took that time for granted. Sometimes I wish I would have hung out with her more often than my friends in my teens.

Its no lie that my sisters and I have always struggled with our weight. But, my Mom has always taught us to love ourselves exactly how we are. And to never judge others. She would tell us that we never knew what others circumstances may be.

She was an excellent Nurse. Sometimes she would come home tired and overwhelmed. I could tell that she loved her patients and when they were not well she would wear her emotions on her sleeve. Several times I would see her emotional over a patient that had passed away or who was struggling. She connected with them and her service was tireless. She loved them and they loved her.

I want to thank her for all the years of pouring out money, time and did I mention money to support my love of Dance. As a single parent I'm sure it was hard I also know that she went without things in order to pay for my expensive costumes or competition fees. She was always willing to carpool me to several classes a week. She knew that I loved it so much and she never complained and I love her for that! We were always on a tight budget but she never let us know it. There were several years she went without any Christmas to make sure all of us kids had something. She has taught us that material things are not what is most important.

I'm grateful for the example that she is. She makes me want to be a better Mom. I love you Mommy!
