Not a Pound

The last 30 days I have been working so hard to lose some weight. I set a goal to lose 4 lbs in one month. I thought a pound a week was reasonable.I have been running at least 5-6 days a week and doing P-90x along with crunches every night. I also put myself on an 1100 calorie intake everyday which I thought was sufficient for as much working out that I am doing.. I have completely changed my diet to healthy foods and as much raw foods as possible.

I have been running so much that by the time I get done I am pouring sweat from everywhere. Anyways, I got to the end of my 30 days and guess what? Not a pound lost. Not even one. To make it worse I gained 2 more. I feel like I could scream!

I went to my closet and packed up everything that didn't fit me because I am so sick of staring at them everyday. Guess what I was left with...two pairs of maternity capri's, one skirt and a shirt. I seriously feel like giving up and accepting that this might just be how I am going to be. I know I just had a baby but every month gets father from just having him and I feel like before long I won't be able to use the " just had a baby" excuse.

I had to go to the Dr's for a yearly physical for our insurance and my blood pressure was up. He then proceeded to tell me that if I would lose some weight and reduce my stress it would improve. REALLY? I'm doing my best to fit it in everyday while my baby screams his head off the whole time. Yeah, that makes working out not stressful at all right.

I'm guessing I wouldn't be the best candidate for The Biggest Loser. My body is freaking out and hanging on to every last ounce of fat that it can. So now I am left starting a new 30 days and hoping for just a pound. I don't even care if I don't get the 4 off that I originally wanted. Never mind the fact that I have 25 pounds to get back to my pre baby weight. I would take one lousy pound just one right now. I guess we will see what the next 30 days bring. Ugh!

6 Month Well Check and Update

The round things on his face are called "tender grips" which is an awful name for them because they are anything but tender. They are what holds his oxygen in place at night. They also hurt like heck to take off so we keep them on until they start to peel off and then put a new set on in a different spot on his face. He cries and cries when we take them off and it breaks my heart. I swear they are made with super glue.

I love my toes!

Such a good sister.

This is his pouty face. It is so funny to see him do this.

Well here I am posting my baby's 6 mo well check when he is almost 7 months old. At his check up he weighed 17 lbs. 5 oz and was about 27 inches long. He is growing so fast!

Some of the things that he loves and can do is...

Sit up
Eat baby foods. He likes squash and most fruits but breaks out in hives with pears.
He loves to hold hands and has since he was a baby.
He is into EVERYTHING! If it is in reach you better watch out.
He rolls over.
He laughs a lot.
He likes to look at books.
He loves to climb.
He is becoming a Mommy's boy but still loves to be with Dad.
He says, Da-Da and Ma- Ma.
He likes to put his Binky in upside down .
He still doesn't have any teeth which is unusual for one of my kids but I think they are on their way.
And his hair is finally starting to come back.

Anyways, we are having so much fun with him and love him so much. Now on to the update. We were able to get into the Pulmonologist up north at the end of May. Once again we feel like our prayers were answered and that is why we were seen sooner. He answered so many questions for us. We found out that the apnea he has is caused by an immaturity in the brain. The brain basically stops signaling the body to breathe while sleeping. Also the Dr said that the altitude that we live at makes it harder for them to grow out of quickly because it is harder to breath at our altitude.
He said that usually between the age of 15 months and 2 years old they start to improve. So when he is 15 months old we will go back and do another overnight sleep study. He is now on oxygen every night to try to remind his body to continue to have air flowing constantly. He also said that the reflux he has is probably contributing to the problem. And yes he still has to sleep in our bed because he has 3 cords hooked to him at night and they don't want him to become tangled. You can imagine how romantic that is. He...He...

So we will continue to weather the storm a little longer. I'm so grateful we received some much needed answers. He will probably be going up north again to see a Gastroenterologist too. Every baby food I give him just runs right through him so they are going to see if it has anything to do with the abnormality they saw on my ultrasound I had at 34 weeks when I was pregnant with him. The pulmonologist thinks it has to do with the same problem as the apnea. He said they are all related to the same thing in the brain. So I guess we will see what we find out. Once again, thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes we know that they have helped.

Growing Pains

Through all the years of being a Mom I have realized that some things must stay the same and some will inevitably change like your children getting older. Lately I have been thinking a lot about this especially since I have a new little one and see how much he grows and changes each day. I long for the days when my kids were little and I was their best friend and they were glued to my side but I also am excited to see what they will do with their futures as they grow and become adults. Here are some things that have been happening with each of my kids that have made this realization even more apparent these days.

Just a few months ago I got a call from a girl. The conversation went a little something like this.
Girl: Are you Victor's Mom?
Me: Yes
Girl: Is your rule that he has to be 16 to go on a date?
Me:It is.
Girl: Oh Okay, I just wanted to ask him to the girls choice Preference Dance.
Me: That is so sweet! I'm sure he would love to go with you but that is our family rule. You should ask him out next year. That would be so much fun and I would love to meet you.
Girl: Okay, I will.
As I got off the phone all I could see in my mind were pictures of my little Victor through the years. I can't believe that he will be 16 in two months and graduated in two years.

Olivia just had her Eight Grade Graduation Dance. She even asked me to help her put on makeup which is so not normal for my plane Jane girl. When she got home she showed us pictures her friends took of her dancing with different boys. We were a little shocked. She is such a tom boy (far from what I am) so this was like Christmas for me. I was SO excited. She will be going to High School next year. Tear...

This first picture is of Emilio in his "banana jammies" with his lawn mower. He used to follow right behind Carlos when he was mowing the lawn. And when Carlos was at work he would still go out there and pretend to mow the whole lawn. This other picture is of him in front of his school. He will be heading to Middle School this year and I am struggling with it maybe because he is technically my oldest or first one that I had. I know it sounds cliche but It really seems like yesterday when I had him.

Oh Leesy the little Diva. We battled so much this year over what she wore and how she did her hair. I remember the days when I could pick out any outfit and she would wear it. And I could do the cutest things with her hair. Not anymore. She is so independent and thinks she is 16.I have had to try so hard to give her independence within limits. Its also hard because she is my little clone. She loves fashion, shopping and girly things just like me. She is getting so tall. And she was the baby of our family for so many years. I sure love my sweet sidekick.

My adorable baby boy has brought so much joy to our home. I swear we just brought him home from the hospital and this time last year he was kicking away in my stomach and I was roasting in the hot sun. He grows so much each day and is doing new things all the time. The first year goes by so fast. We love him so much!
