Prom

Victor just went to Prom with his friend Mazi Womack. We have known there family for a long time and her Dad works with Carlos. She is on Livs soccer team and on Victor and Livs Track team. They had a good time. The first Pictures are of us decorating her car so that Victor could ask her while she was at Soccer practice. He spelled out Prom with post its and covered her car with them . Under one of them was a baby picture of him so she could have a clue who was asking her, and he had some flowers under her wiper. The next pictures are of Prom. He warned me ahead of time and told me to not freak out. He said that the Photographer told them to act crazy. He must have been the only one that heard it because he was the only one looking crazy. Oh well, would you expect anything different from him?

Defeated!

Ahh....this week has been so hard. Lately I have just felt so defeated. I know I mentioned in the past that my baby was a very difficult child. I had been hoping it was just a short phase (it all started at about 9 months of age/ now he's 17 months old.) but no, he still throws the biggest fits. He wakes up crying, and goes to sleep crying. It makes me so sad. He spends his day hitting, spitting, biting and now he bangs his head on things when he gets mad. Is this normal? The other day while saying my prayers, I wondered if our sweet little baby regreted choosing our family to come too. I know that sounds silly but that is how I have felt lately. I just don't know how to make him happy. I wake up every day thinking tomorrow is another day, it is going to be better, but he still cries the second he gets up. I spend so much time playing with him and exploring new things with him but it never seems enough. Ugh! He has become so unbearable at the store or anywhere else that I avoid taking him places which in turn leaves us stranded in the house all of the time. I really wish I knew what to do. Sometimes I just want to say to him, "don't you know how much we love you, don't you know how much we prayed for you and how long we waited for you? We really are a fun family." I keep praying for patience, I guess this is how the Lord is teaching it to me. I am just not sure I like it :(

Our expensive Child

I just read a post from my sister about her son and his broken arm. It reminded me that I needed to add this picture of our little guy. This weekend he fell on our fireplace and split his head open. Luckily the DR was able to glue him and steri strip it back together. He said he probably should have had stitches.

Then today I accidentally shut his finger in the bathroom door. Man oh Man! We are not off to a good start. We have already racked up a large amount of Hospital bills from this little guy. And he is definitely our daring wild child.

Our Family Moto

Lately in our home we have noticed quite a bit of finger pointing and name calling that has led to some hurt feelings. Maybe it is because my kids are getting older and asserting some of their Independence but it has never been an issue until now and as parents, it makes Carlos and myself sad to see our kids treating their brothers and sisters that way. So we have this quote posted on our fridge as a good reminder.

Along those same lines we have prayerfully decide to step aside from the family business this next month. We have several reasons why, but we have seen it pull our families apart and we want to be able to salvage whatever relationships we can and quite frankly it is turning me into a person that I just don't like. I will be starting school soon and my time will be even more limited and all I want to do with my extra time is be a Mother and wife. I am hope full that my brothers will be able to make it grow and thrive even more.

A Boy and His Spatula.

Some kids have security blankets or a favorite toy. Not mine. He has a spatula! The first thing he asks for when he gets up is a "poon" aka spatula.

Diego also had his 15 mo check up and his stats were
Weight 22# 6 0z 17%
Height 31 1/2 inches 54%
Head circumference 18 1/2 40 %

He is doing good and is SO busy. He gets into everything! He loves to be outside and tries to say everything that we say which may not be a good thing. He still snuggles with me and I love it! I love watching him explore and try things and see new things for the first time. We just love him!

The Family Biz

Victor modeling his aunt Chantyl's apron

This might be breaking some child labor laws

These pictures are for all of the family out of town that haven't been able to see the biz.

At the end of October our family and two of my brothers families (Jon and Tom) purchased Midvalley Pizza. It has been quite the adventure to say the least. And more work than we could have ever imagined. But it has provided some extra money and work experience for our kids which was our main goal and it has been a good place to see some of the people we grew up with in Enoch.

The Verdict is In!

I got a call today from the Dr at Primary's saying that we could discontinue the oxygen for the baby and that we could cancel the appointment we had with him in the next few weeks. I am so happy! It is going to take some adjusting to get used to it.

Of course we still have to watch him close but I am so thankful for the promptings I had that were telling me that something was wrong from the time he was 2 months old. Without them we may not have him here with us today. What a long 15 months it has been.

I am so thankful for answered prayers. Ironically, this challenge has taught me so many lessons about myself and what I am capable of handling. I can't wait to have our room look like a normal bedroom and not a hospital room.

Here we go Again

This years pics

Last years pics

We returned this morning from Diego's follow up appointment at Primary Children's Hospital. I can't believe we have finally made it to this point. It seemed like last year when the Doctor told us that he wouldn't test him again until he was 15 months old that it would take forever for that time to get here. Well it crept up on us sooner than we thought. Thank goodness!

It was far more challenging than last time when he was 4 months old.I spent most of the night laying next to the crib trying to keep his hands from pulling off all of the cords. At least this time we were more prepared because we had already been through it. It is still not a place that you want to visit if you don't have too. A very special place but not one you want to take your child to as a patient.

When we made our way through the doors Carlos reminded of me of our first visit there and how scared we both were. We had no clue what we were dealing with and were so desperate for answers. Every time he fell asleep caused so much anxiety for us.

When we checked in last night we took his vitals and walked the halls until he got tired. He thought it was a dream come true. He played with every toy he could find. I can't believe how much he has changed since his last overnight visit. Last time he couldn't even sit up on his own.

When we got him hooked up and ready for bed he cried and cried. I finally had to rock him and sing him to sleep which he usually doesn't let me do anymore. After a very long night with hardly no sleep they came in at 6 am to unhook him. They let me give him a quick bath in the sink to clean off all of the goop and then they gave him 3 toy cars, a hat and blanket. We hit the cafeteria for breakfast on the way out and headed home.

We will go back in 3 weeks to go over the results. So now we wait. Thanks for all of the prayers. We never could have imagined dealing with a challenge like this but feel so blessed for the the strength we have gained from it.
