Yesterday my son, brother, sister in law,and friend from Kanab and I ran in the Utah Summer Games 5K. This was the second year for me to do it. It was so fun to have more people from my family there and my cute friend who smoked us all on her very first 5K (way to go Angie Castagno). Last year my sister Angie and I ran it but she was in Mexico and couldn't come although I missed her terribly.
In an earlier post I complained about not being able to find my knees. Well today they are still lost. Along with my shins, my hamstrings, my back, yeah pretty much everything hurts today. I just wish I would have been a little more prepared for it this year. Last year I ran all of it without stopping. But this year around mile 2 my body and lungs said, "stop now!" and I had to walk for a minute. It really stunk because had I kept running I probably would have beat my last years time by a couple of minutes. Instead I ended up adding two minutes to my last years time. Have I ever mentioned how hard it is to get running again once you have stopped. Oh well, remember my goal this year was just to finish right?
My son Victor took the bronze in his age division. He ran it in 22 minutes. Not so bad for his second time. He is so cute, after he gets done with the run he waits for me at the home stretch and runs the rest of the way with me. He has done this both times he has ran with me. I get all choked up when I see him and have tears in my eyes when I cross the finish line. What a guy!
I'm so glad I did it and I am glad my family has caught on with why I love to run. Or should I say "slow jog" lets be real.

congrats!!!!
That's awesome Kari! Congratulations. I think its great you still run, despite your set-backs with your knees and all. Way to go!
Yay for you!! I am SO happy I got to run it with you. I was nervous and having you there calmed me down:) It was fun, I would do another one I think...but nothing longer than a 5k! Those people are CRAZY:) Victor is a little runner-man! If that kid doesn't stay with it in high school and college...I'll hunt him down:) Hope your knees are feeling better:)
Kari I think finishing is a great accomplishment. Way to go!!!!
